Alter
is Jonathan Wallace and Dan Whitford. They formed Alter in the summer
of 2000 and had an initial focus on work for fashion labels (eg:
Levi's, Marcs, Mambo). More and more Alter began to develop a diverse
range of clients through industrial design, hospitality and music.
In between jobs, Dan moonlights with a music career under the name
Cut Copy and Jonathan lectures in design at Monash University. General
Pants asked Alter to design their recent winter campaign, from T-shirts
to posters and print ads. Alter said yes – though secretly supporting
rebels in their fight for a 'pants-free' republic. Alter also put
their unique touch to Brunswick Street’s newest nightspot Bimbo
Deluxe, producing visuals and an innovative weekly streetpress campaign.
Alter also maintains a strong focus on non-profit and art based
projects, donating one-off garments for the Refugee Benefit Auction.
They have also had work published in Neomu, exhibited at Area 2010
street art festival and will show work at the Next Wave Festival
2004. Alter are currently working on another cross-media project
titled "Lost & Found" which will combine elements of image, text,
and street based art. The black and pink one is part of the 'lost
& found' artwork:
