by:Larm is an annual gathering of emerging Nordic talent combined with a selection of heavy international players for five days of gigs, clubbing and seminars in Oslo, Norway. This year, in addition to keynote guests like James Murphy and John Cale and a lineup that includes Andre Bratten, Axel Boman, Erlend Oye, Genius Of Time, Jenny Hval and Kate Boy, we've been invited to host a night on the Red Bull stage showcasing what's commonly known as the Modular Nordic Trinity - CEO, Young Dreams and Shine 2009.
North Carolina-based producer Tokyo Hands has delivered Modular's first remix of the year, for Finnish duo Shine 2009. It's a cranking, beat filled reworking of the single Older, from the album Our Nation.
"In year 2013 I released an album with Shine 2009, did a decent amount of touring/traveling and made some songs that i'm really excited about. But most importantly, in 2013 I was introduced to some excellent new artists and became friends with the best people in the world. This list is about my favorite people of 2013"

The pop duo took us into their rehearsal space in Helsinki, breezing through five tracks from their recently released album Our Nation. This latest instalment of the series follows on from loved deliveries by Tame Impala and Young Dreams.

In October this year Helsinki duo Shine 2009 released their 2nd album and their first on Modular Recordings, 'Our Nation'. In November Cut Copy released their 4th record, 'Free Your Mind'. Cut Copy invited Shine 2009 to open for them on their European tour so it seemed like an opportune time to introduce the two groups before they spend three weeks on the road together. Glen Goetze from Modular connected Sami Suova of Shine 2009 with Dan Whitford of Cut Copy.

Melbourne producer Null treats the Finnish duo's breakbeat Euro-pop album cut 'Older' like putty with his bass dropping reshape. Dummy summed it up perfectly - "his remix opens on gratuitous, jungle-style samples before exploding into a rather ridiculous but undeniably grin-inducing splash of colourful acid basslines, snare rolls, piano stabs, and rave breaks".
Finnish electronic weirdos Shine 2009 are about to release their sophomore album, Our Nation. Ahead of the release this Friday in Australia, and next Monday (UK), Tuesday (USA on Cascine), Dazed Digital are streaming the album in full.
