Recommends: Grinderman - Bellringer Blues (Nick Zinner Remix)
Late last year after releasing two great albums, Grinderman announced their decision to call it quits. Fans took solace in the knowledge that the members were highly likely to keep making music in their various other projects including Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and the Dirty Three - and maybe in the future hear more Grinderman adventures. (When the band pulled up stumps they jokingly said something about seeing everyone in 10 years for a come back tour.)
Then, this remix surfaced, with the Yeah Yeah Yeah's talented Nick Zinner taking on remix duties. It's a meeting of creative greats. There's apparently a whole remix album on the way...

Recommends: Nick Zinner's 41 Strings
In May this year Yeah Yeah Yeah's guitarist Nick Zinner composed, conducted and performed in a special performance to mark the 41st anniversary of Earth Day.
Collaborating with Hisham Akira Bharoocha and Ben Vida of Soft Circle and clothing label Loomstate as part of the Creators Project, the performance, 41 Strings, chronicled the ups and downs of the four seasons.
The above video shows the entire process, from the initial conception and composition, to the final performance with visuals by Yoshi Sodeoka, E*Rock and Dawn of Man. Over here is a a stream of the performance.

Recommends: Karen O in 'Psycho Opera'
We're very intrigued by the news that Yeah Yeah Yeahs' front woman Karen O will appear in a 'psycho opera' to be staged at St Ann's Warehouse in DUMBO, New York, this October 13-16. Directed by novelist/playwriter Adam Rapp, we sure can't wait to see it.
This performance is part of the Creators Project and will include a series of other shows including 'Life on Mars Revisited', a remix project Barney Clay (who made the YYYs video for Zero) has made using photographer Mick Rock's footage of David Bowie.
Also in the series is a collaboration between director Jonathan Glazer and J Spaceman - a physical interpretation of Spiritualized's Ladies and Gentlemen, We Are Floating in Space. Check out the videos from their installation at Coachella below.

2009 Triple J Hottest 100 Round Up
Well done team Modular, who represented a tidy 5% slice in this year's Triple J Hottest 100 pie chart, which was unveiled yesterday. Yeah Yeah Yeahs' peaked as the highest Mod act (with 2 songs no less), while Australia's own Wolfmother, Tame Impala and Bag Raiders bigged up the local side of things. Thank you all for taking the time to vote, and a big congratulations to the acts!

18. Bag Raiders - "Shooting Stars"
25. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - "Zero"
75. Wolfmother - "New Moon Rising"

Gallery: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Hordern Pavilion, Sydney, 08/01/2010
Yeah Yeah Yeahs brought their glitziest tour yet to Australia over the 2009-10 holiday transition period, and as the technicolor smorgasbord of pictorial evidence suggest, it was Blitz!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the New York-based three-piece led by show-stopping siren Karen O, swept the early noughties rock revival floor clean with a self-titled five-song EP which was soon followed by their debut album Fever to Tell.
