Club Modcast #007: Softwar

Softwar are a couple of club legends from Sydney, champions of the iconic SlowBlow residency at GoodGod for the past 4 years. They've just released 'Believe/One Day', their third EP and first for Club Mod. In celebration of this release and their imminent tour, here's a Modcast primed for late night shenanigans of the best variety.

Club Mod #007, Softwar's 'Believe/One Day' EP, is out now digitally via iTunes / Beatport. The physical version coming soon to the Mod Shop, pre-order it here.

The boys are traversing the southern hemisphere with dates downunder, China and Singapore in the coming couple months headlined by their EP launch party on Friday May 10 at the Spice Cellar, information here. All the details below as well as a chat & the tracklist.

Now that you've released your 3rd EP, what's next on the agenda?

We ultimatey want to keep pushing our sound and put out more records. Heaps more actually. I think the next focus would be an extended EP with 4 or more tracks. Something with a good mix of the type of sounds we are into.. Not just dance stuff but some weird soundscape/journey vibes that compliment the next track. We also have plans to work on our live show which is coming together nicely and we hope to kick off later this year.

Tell us about the highs and lows of your Good God residency with Slow Blow.

The party has been going for almost 4 years and to be honest there have only been good times. Headaches have been the only thing to not look forward to. They've become a bit less frequent so when they do come about we're pretty up for it.

Slow Blow are another Sydney DJ tag-team. Why does the duo format work for you?

I guess we balance each other out. One of us is better in one regard than the other and vice versa. A friend of mine once described playing music as like having sex, its fun on your own but always better with someone else. We can disagree on a lot of things but generally we are always having fun and that is an important thing to us

When is two too many?

When you didnt realize how strong they were.

Who would be your fantasy guest at the club?

David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust

What do you guys do in the real world?

One of us works in high finance and the other at a kosher deli.
