Take flight with indie dance don Andrew Weatherall's excursion in modern space rock. The man who created the dreamy diptych of Cut Copy's Sun God mantra has a phenomenal history rooted in the Boys Own collective, which birthed a cult fanzine, record label and production team during the peak of UK acid house. Producing the vital drug soundtrack Screamadelica with Terry Farley, he went on to form Sabres of Paradise and Two Lone Swordsman, before launching his current electronic imprint Rotters Golf Club.
2 September finds the label releasing a remix album for The Asphodells, his partnership with Timothy J. Fairplay, featuring contributions from Daniel Avery, Daniele Baldelli and Ivan Smagghe. Go forth...
Acyd house lab rat Roland Tings puts an interesting spin on our Modcast series with a set of originals recorded live in Berlin during a roaring thunderstorm. A man hard at work, teasing material that might follow his hot off the press Club Mod EP. You can absorb Junior Boys' Jeremy Greenspan's take on the lead cut Tomita's Basement here. As Juno eloquently puts it "Jeremy gets militaristic with a drum roll-laced remix which seeks to transport you to more cosmic destinations".
Australians will be happy to hear that Roland was announced as part of Meredith's upcoming bush bash this morning while Londoners can look forward to his appearance to ReviveHER's 4th Birthday at Mother on 14 September with Tim Sweeney, Lovefingers and Cos/Mes. Interview and tracklist down below.
Washington DC's heart of gold spreads his positive energy in many forms - as a solo recording artist, as head honcho of Future Times Records and as 1/2 of Beautiful Swimmers. If you're not yet clued in, the new Beautiful Swimmers album Son is your optimum starting point. An 11-cut journey without a compass - paranoid house, dream weaving ambient and lo-fi boogie instruMENTALS, all performed with his wingman, professional dog walker Ari Goldman. Max has just collapsed Roland Tings' world with a woozy breakbeat remix out on Club Mod on August 13. Pre-orders of the 12" available now over at The Modshop.
Standish/Carlyon are a two piece from Melbourne, made up of Conrad Standish and Tom Carlyon, formerly of revered shadowy rock group The Devastations. Deleted Scenes (out now on Chapter Music) is their debut album and sees the duo enter a world of shimmery dub pop and sounds for late night altered states. They've just signed recently with the Musique Agency!
They play Sydney next Friday 09th August at Goodgod Small Club alongside Horse Macguyver, Four Door and DJ Nigel Yang (HTRK). Tix available here.

He's working on a couple of new EPs including an exciting collaboration with Antony & Cleopatra (Alex Burnett of Sparkadia & Anita Bray AKA Cocknbull Kid).
For a live fix, our European friends can catch him smashing Summer gigs in the coming weeks including sets at Kiki, Istanbul on the 23rd of August & Carpe Diem, Hvar on 29th and 30th of August.

The Canyons boys took their music down a new direction with side-project Pink Gin. Its the culmination of the duo's private stash of rhythm tracks, harkening back to Canyons' early days of warehouse beats & fun club cuts.
Keep reading after the jump for an interview with the techspert-half of the group, Adam Bozzetto, and the tracklist for this week's hour of Modcast power.

Raf Daddy - aka Raphael Rundell - met Joe Goddard (taking time out from his day job as one fifth of Hot Chip) through a party scene that saw them share deck duties at the legendary Greco-Roman parties.
Upon venturing into the studio in an attempt to replicate some of the records that they'd lost themselves in the night before, Raf found himself laying down vocals over Joe's skipping, bassomatic backing tracks safe in the knowledge that they'd soon be replaced by someone with sweeter, more melodious tones. In the end, it was Raf's voice that characterized and personalized The 2 Bears.
Here lies a fine selection of choice musical cuts, prepared and curated by the crew of the good ship Modular and its extended family.
