Movement are thrilled to announce they'll be touring the US and Canada in support of Banks this September/October. Sharing the same name as her upcoming debut album, The Goddess Tour will also feature British vocalist-producer and ongoing Banks collaborator Lil Silva. This golden run of dates will fill the void left by Twin Shadow's rescheduled tour. Dates and ticket links below. With plenty of shows already sold out, we recommend you jump on this quickly to avoid bitter disappointment!
The Presets will sweep across the US and Canada this October/November, as part of IHEARTCOMIX's Check Yo Ponytail Tour. The duo will headline the travelling show with their new live show, supported by idiosyncratic MCs Le1f and Antwon, electropop newcomer Chela and DJ Franki Chan. Find the full dates below. Bummer. Sonic purveyors Darkside have announced on social media that they're "coming to an end, for now", but not before Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington fortified their legacy by sharing two unreleased tracks from the 'Psychic' sessions, one aptly titled 'Gone Too Soon'. Sample them below, before both tracks are available on the forthcoming Other People compilation 'Work'. Darkside will play their last show in Brooklyn on September 12.
Surely by now you've seen Movement's too-sexy-for-youtube 'Ivory' video, a surreal exploration of a young couple's out-of-body sexual experience. This fitting visual accompaniment to the band's arousing sound was directed by French duo Fleur & Manu, whose unparalleled videography includes clips for Gesafelstein, M83, Lykke Li and our own Bag Raiders. Two of the most progressive filmmakers in the game, we asked them to contribute five youtube clips that they've encountered in their research. A twisted sense of humour.
It's open season for budding producers to remix Bag Raiders' latest club single 'Nairobi' after the band blasted this invitation:
We're throwing up the parts for 'Nairobi' on Soundcloud for anyone out there who wants to have a stab at a remix, steal our drums, whatever. Sharing is caring!! Love, Bag Raiders xxx
'Nairobi' is the lead cut of their latest Club EP, featuring two dancefloor bound originals and remixes by Zombie Disco Squad and Roland Tings. It's now available worldwide through Modular via iTunes and all good digital retailers.
Entropico (Hayden James, Touch Sensitive) have given us a fun video for 'Protect', Beni's 90s house rewind featuring vocals by Antony & Cleopatra, the duo of soulful London voice Anita Blay and Alexander Burnett. The cheeky clip casts Triple J personality and Sydney techno DJ Linda Marigliano in an entertaining take on the weird youtube phenomenon 'Japanese Techno Girl'.
'Protect' is the lead single from Beni's new EP, now available in Australia, UK and Europe through Modular Recordings (buy here), and soon in the US via WIN Music (Duke Dumont, Tiga). Produced with The Presets' Kim Moyes, the dancefloor dynamite is backed by two select remixes - Melbourne heat waves Indian Summer tackle 'Protect' while Canadian house dons Prince Club rework 'Can't Hide'.
Festival saviours The Presets have a remix package for their charging track 'No Fun'. Out in Australia today / 4 August UK / 5 August US, the EP features diverse reworks from Australian house star Lancelot, Montreal Mau5trap signing Eekkoo, Belfast techno maestro Phil Kieran, new UK outfit Wax Wings and the much loved RÜFÜS. Grab a free download of Lancelot's joust below.
'Ivory', a standout from Movement's debut EP released earlier this year on Modular Recordings, now has a video. Directed by Fleur & Manu (M83, Gesaffelstein, Connan Mockasin), the NSFW video paints a stark, delicate picture of love and lust, nudity, intimacy and sexuality, of two bodies merging into one like colours running together in a tableau. It's a deep, surrealist meditation on the physical act of love and two individuals perceptions of what that is.
After wrapping their first run of international tour dates last month, Movement are also pleased to announce they'll be taking their evocative soul along the Australian East Coast this September. The tour is on sale now and will be followed by a 26-date US run in support of Twin Shadow's synth-pop, playing venues of up to 3000 people.
