Cut Copy - "Far Away" EP
Having delivered us party anthems "Lights & Music" and "Hearts On Fire", Aussie electro dreamboats Cut Copy show us their softer side with new single, "Far Away". Dan Whitford's heavenly voice will surely hit the heart, a song of prose to make any girl (or boy) weak from the waist down. From the cool calm and collected verse of synth driven disco, to the build up into fast paced, beatastic chorus, the track takes many a turn. A turning of the other cheek, a moody stripped back break down revelaing Cutter's sensitive side. A top notch number, from a top notch bunch of boys.
We've packed this smooth tune up in a little digital EP alongside a bunch of rerubs and a previously unreleased Cutters' gem. Check the tracklist below.
1. Far Away
2. Far Away (Hercules And Love Affair Remix)
3. Far Away (Damn Arms Remix)
4. So Haunted (The Golden Filter Remix)
5. So Haunted (Knightlife's Sun-Soaked Reprise)
6. Hearts On Fire (Aeroplane Pop Remix)
7. Sands Of Time

#22: Chris Devlin
One of the Spank Rock DJs, Chris Devlin pulled into Modular HQ last Friday to record a Modcast. Needless to say we all knocked off early and cracked a few coldies whilst Chris spun our heads off with a few good tunes from his stash. This one has got it all, a tightly packed tin of totally blitzing party bangers and stupidly sideways psych, with a few tropicana style sizzlers thrown in for good measure, it was a perfect way to wind down the work week and gear up for Friday night. All the way from Philly in the US of A, Spank Rock are the absolute bees knees when it comes to hip-hop and all round jams, we were psyched to have Chris in the office.
#21: Tim Sweeney
Tim Sweeney (the brain behind Beats In Space) dropped by recently to lay down some of his favourite jams from the outter edges of the universe for the latest Modcast. A smooth affair you would come to expect from the prolific New Yorker, Sweeney's delicious serving of funk, disco and all things chilled is the perfect accompaniment to the long hot summer ahead of you.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs Album 3 Update
Yeah Yeah Yeahs, fronted by the queen banshee herself, Karen O are almost done and dusted with their new album. Although the details are scarce, what we do know is the follow up to last years Is Is EP won't reach our ears until next year sometime and it's going to be an absolute ripper of a record, that sounds very much like the YYYs but nothing like what we've heard before. Here's what they had to say:

Ladyhawke Tops NME Cool List
Ladyhawke has had her debut in NME's annual cool list, coming in at number six. We've always known Pip is cooler than the other side of the pillow and NME have just confirmed it, saying:
Live she's so shy she can barely look at the audience, yet Pip Brown's limitations as a performer are an intrinsic part of her appeal, creating an enthralling disjunction between the euphoria of the music and the punishing self-doubt of its creator.
Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Jamie Reynolds of Klaxons also made the cut.

#20: Tame Impala
The boys from Tame Impala stopped by the other day, all long-haired, barefooted and smelling of wilderberries to put together the latest Modcast for us. Diving into the rabbit hole of 60s psychedelia, tumbling rock from the 70s and some newer far-out jams, this mix is trip through the looking glass into the land of Tame Impala. Kevin Parker (Guitar & Vocals), Dominic Simper (Bass Guitar) and Jay Watson (Drums & Vocals) present a selection of tracks that both inspired and stimulated them during the recording of their debut EP, which is creating a certified shit-storm in Australia.

#19: Dirty Sound System
Dirty Sound System is Guillaume Sorge, Clovis Goux and sometimes Benjamin Morando. Three Frenchies with a penchant treading the line between vintage and futuristic. When it comes to the party, they know how to spin it, playing all over the world beside names like Justice, Simian Mobile Disco, Headman and Kitsune. Together with Jerome Poisson handling the technical bits, they run a Paris based website/record label called Dirty. As a label, they are most known for releasing tracks by Discodeine (Marando & Pilooski) and limited vinyl runs of re-edits by Pilooski that have garnered props from the likes of Erol Alkan, Joakim and WhoMadeWho. They've also put out four compilations of off-kilter dancefloor tracks with little to no genre distinction, the latest of which is titled Dirty Space Disco. This Modcast features some upcoming Discodeine tracks and Joakim remixes as well as some club (un)classics. It was recorded live, no editing, no overdubs, they left all the mistakes, but it's still smooth as silk.
#18: DJ Gorky (Bonde Do Role)
Bringing us up to number nineteen, DJ Gorky of Brazilian throwdown-throwers Bonde Do Role has laced together the latest episode of the Modcast. Whether it's with his band or solo on the sliders, Gorky is known for starting blurry eyed stumbling parties by meshing his love for laying down a club rub with a buoyant and bubbly attitude. A winning combo, if we do say so. Whilst the first half of this Modcast is a sublime megamix of baile funk, hip-hop, noisy electro and dance jams that'll satisfy even the fussiest party palette the second half is all Modular lovin' with Gorky playing his favourite tracks from the label and telling us why.
R.I.P. Nagi Noda
It was with immense shock and sadness that we received the news of the passing of one of the most ingeniously sparkling creative minds of our generation in Nagi Noda. We were extremely lucky not only to have the pleasure of witnessing her work, but also had the utmost honour of having a working relationship with Nagi, and it's heart-wrenching to see her time cut so short at just 33 years old.
