The Presets Kick Kaboose
The duo's trophy room is looking pretty chocka these days, they've raked up an impressive bag of awards this year already and Friday night it was capped off in the most exemplary fashion imaginable with their winning of the 2008 J Award for Album Of The Year for the unstoppable second album, Apocalypso. The J Award is for an album of outstanding achievement as an Australian musical work of art - for its creativity, innovation, musicianship and contribution to Australian music, as judged by a panel at Triple J, Australia's nation-wide youth network. The Presets join the list of legends alongside previous winners Wolfmother, Blue King Brown and The Panics.
Just last Sunday, Apocalypso was bestowed another prize at the inaugural Sydney Music Art and Culture (SMAC) Awards at the Opera House in Sydney where it received Record Of The Year. Onya lads. They've also managed to grab GQ Magazine's Best Band 2008 and The Age EG Award for Best Single.
What are they up to now? This is what Julian had to say whilst chewing the fat with Triple J:
"We're doing Aussie festivals over the summer and compared to what we've been doing that's practically a holiday. So during the weeks I'm just sitting at home sanding tables and gardening and doing really un-Presety stuff like that."
The boys will be kicking it in Australia for three months before tearing the up the US again next March, they've also let slip that they'll start work on a new album later in 2009.
Buy Apocalypso from The Mod Shop, JB HiFi or iTunes.
