The Tough Alliance Featured In The FADER
The Tough Alliance landed on the cover of the FADER Magazine this month, right next to their home boy Busy Signal. Read their feature story online and in the mag, just in time for the October release of their album in Australia, A New Chance. Previously released on their own label Sincerely Yours, Modular is proud to offer The Tough Alliance a proper Australian release for all of you like us who won't fork out the coin for import prices. Tight arses.
The FADER have also got the feature they did on DFA Records online now. Jonathan Galkin, James Murphy (LCD Sound System vocalist) and Tim Goldsworthy (producer behind The Rapture and Cut Copy) are the grey matter behind the New York based record label that has lead the dance-rock and disco phenomenon. Matthew Schnipper sits down with the founders and some of the artists on DFA, including Black Meteoric Star, Holy Ghost!, Still Going and Hercules and Love Affair. Take a look.
Tame Impala EP
The first official single and lead track from the Tame Impala EP is "Desire Be, Desire Go". The band rigged it up to stream from their MySpace earlier this week and now we have too.
The debut EP (set your peepers on the cover art hovering above) is five tracks of untamed enthusiasm and unexpected delight penned by Kevin Parker (Guitar, Vocals) on his eight track. Beginning with "Desire Be, Desire Go's" loose groove verses, to "Slide Through My Fingers" rollicking desert trip of a journey, "Half Full Glass Of Wine's" half-speed double-awesome riffing, "41 Mosquitoes Flying In Formation's" unstoppable shake and "Skeleton Tiger's" marching band drums and haunting lead guitar, the Tame Impala EP has all the beauty of a lion's mane, and all the power of it's roar. A beautiful snapshot into what lies within the beast.
#16: Teki Latex
Whilst the better part of the Southern Hemisphere freezes their nuts off over Winter, Teki Latex has whipped this mix of summer jams up especially for the Northern Hemisphere. However there is no reason we can't pump up the volume and dance like a loon to warm ourselves up too. As an independent artist and member of Paris-based electro hip-hop outfit TTC, Teki is also co founder of Institubes record label to boot. With all this in motion, he still found time to piece together the latest Modcast for us. So props to him!
Video: More Ladyhawke Video Diaries
In the third entry of the series, Pip shows us the insides and outs of her time at Glastonbury, eats a some KFC, demolishes a hotdog and just generally wails out to crowds of thousands.
The fourth clip details her first show in Paris at Nouveau Casino> and her first London headline show at Hoxton Bar and Kitchen, with some drunken chatter thrown into the mix for good measure.
Suss the previous entries on YouTube.
#15: Eine Kleine Tonite Music
Eine Kleine Tonite Music is the mixtape pieced together by Eine Kleine Nachtmusik AKA Henry Smithson AKA Riton, with the assistance of the graphic equalizer and Eine Kleine artwork synthesizer Fergadelic, also the man behind the Tonite clothing label. Eine Kleine Tonite Music is a collection of cosmic, floaty Krautrock that inspired the Eine Kleine Nachtmusik record, straight from Fergadelic

Tame Impala Sign To Modular
Modular is over the moon to bring in a new era of mental exploration and swinging, free-jamming delight with their freshest signing - Tame Impala.
Tame Impala are Kevin Parker (guitar and vocals), Dominic Simper (bass guitar) & Jay Watson (drums and vocals) the Perth-based 3 piece hypno-groove wet dream who deliver music that makes other bands look like a bad acid flashback, think Cream meets Can on an ether-tinged desert ride with Dr. Gonzo. With fuzzed guitars, tumbling drums and howling vocals a plenty, the band evokes dreamy images of a place where music belongs to all five senses and rhythm aligns with the pulse of the space-time continuum.
Ladyhawke - "Paris Is Burning" & Video Diary
We are now able to announce that the first official single from Ladyhawke will be "Paris Is Burning", a pure pop jam that resonates with charming disco urgency. It's party-starting handclaps, harmonic vox, and pulsating bass all lead to a synthtastic bodily rush that'll have you moving like a boneless chicken. It's due to be at media (that's marketing lingo for radio and idiot boxes) at the end of the month. It will have its official release in late august, accompanied with a remixes by Cut Copy, Chicken Lips, Peaches, Alex Gopher and more. Her debut album will drop in September, more details to follow in the coming weeks.
Also, Pip has started doing regular video diaries which is being debuted by inthemix, on her MySpace and on our YouTube, the first of which is up now.
