Recommends: Jodorowsky's Dune

Possibly the greatest movie never made? In the mid-70s, Chilean-French filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky, the limitless imagination behind cult acid flicks El Topo and The Holy Mountain, dared to bring Frank Herbert's sci-fi epic Dune to life. He set out to recruit his fantasy lineup, including genius French illustrator Moebius and Alien designer H.R. Grigor, cast members Orson Welles, Salvador Dali, Mick Jagger and Amanda Lear, and animated prog giants Pink Floyd and Magma. Racking up millions of dollars in pre-production costs with a script that would result in a 10-hour film, the rug was pulled before a single shot commenced. A lapsed licensed then enabled David Lynch's grotesque vision of the novel. This fascinating walk through the doomed project's process will leave you sleepless wondering "what if?".
