Recommends: Marc Gomez del Moral

Spanish cinematographer Marc Gomez del Moral has a beautiful and sharp eye. He's the creative vision behind some of our favourite video clips - including Battles, El Guincho and Two Door Cinema Club.

We caught up with him recently and asked where he takes his inspiration from. This is what he came back with.

1. Painting

I've been an always enthusiast about painting. I'm not good in that field but through the job of some good artists I discovered a good way to approach cinematography as well. Recently I'm using a tool of Google that helps me in this way. You can have a good and quick sense of how they work with composition, colours, texture ... I find it very useful.

2. Italy

Italy is the birthplace of so many things in terms of art. It's definitely a inspiring country for me.

3. West Side Story

We can't set up a list without talking about a movie. Chosing a movie that represents you is always hard work, you always feel that it doesn't exactly match, or that you are leaving so many films at the back. Because we are talking about cinematography I decide to add the first sequence of WEST SIDE STORY. Is quite amazing the way they work with colours!!!! It's also amazing the way they use the camera, the editing...
